Photography is open to students in grades 10-12. The class topics of instruction include 35mm camera operations and parts, film speeds and types, black and white film development, printing photos using different papers and chemicals, darkroom safety and operations, the history of photography, darkroom techniques, alternative photo techniques, critical analysis of professional photos, compositional techniques, care and maintenance of camera and supplies, using studio lighting and backdrops, digital photography and Photoshop, careers in photography, photo mounting and presentation, and a research paper on a professional photographer. Students will need their own 35mm film camera.
742 Freshman Band

This course is designed to diagnose the needs of incoming freshmen musicians. Their evaluation will determine the level of difficulty the music experience will be. Note values, intonation, fingerings, positions, articulation, time signatures and key signatures will be covered thru a series of texts individualized to the instruments played.
751 Senior Band

Individual auditions are required for Band membership. The Band is taught upon principles of performance practice. Different styles of music are taught, including, concert, classical, jazz, and rock. All Band and Orchestral instruments are used. Band members are expected to participate in all school functions—i.e. Liturgies, Sports Events, Academic, spring Concert and Graduation Exercises.

For Advanced performers, permission of the teacher is required ahead of time. Performance practice principles apply. Styles to include both classical, jazz and rock are studied on both acoustic and electric instruments.

For Advanced performers---permission of the teacher is a pre-requisite. Performance practice principles apply. Styles to include: Latin American; Afro-Cuban; Rudimental, Orchestral, Jazz and Rock. Snare Drum, Mallet instruments, and Timpani are included as well as techniques on the Myriad miscellaneous percussion traps.
765 Guitar 1

Designed for beginners and/or those students that do not read music using the Hal Leonard 3 book set---each string is introduced with its accompanying notation. Standard notation and Tablatures are utilized with appropriate rhythm and chord accompaniment. Students are able to use the school owned guitars, but are encouraged to find the best possible instrument---of their choice.

For beginners /or advanced. Scales and chords are introduced with performance fingerings. Exercises are used to develop dexterity and individual digital independence. Appropriate level songs are used to advance these concepts.

Permission of the teacher is a pre-requisite. Performance on an orchestral instrument is required. Circle of 4ths and 5ths is the basis for all notations, in both Treble and Bass Clefs and the piano is used as the tool instrument.
720 Mechanical Drawing and Architecture

Mechanical drawing and architecture is a year long one credit course that helps develop logical thinking, geospatial relationship, hands application of geometry concepts and creativity. It concentrates on transitioning 3 dimensional objects into 2 dimensional planes of projection and developing working drawings so these objects can be understood and built by tradesmen. This year long course is necessary for students considering a career in engineering or just a creative interest. Stress must be made that students should have completed geometry or taking the course to be considered for this class.
