As a student at The Cardinal Gibbons School, I had very high expectations. I expected a rigorous academic curriculum, the opportunity to play varsity athletics, to become an active member in the student community, and a tight knit sense of brotherhood with all of my classmates. Most of all, I expected to be prepared for the challenges ahead of me in college and in life. Cardinal Gibbons fulfilled all of these expectations. My experiences here were truly memorable, and I am always grateful for everything Cardinal Gibbons provided me.
The experiences that I had at Cardinal Gibbons School during my four years rank second to none. The friendships gained and lessons learned will undoubtedly stand the test of time. Through my time spent in the classroom, on the playing field, or at social events I have learned much about life and about myself. The school is not only a place for academic knowledge, but also a facility for spiritual growth and further understanding of one’s faith. The devoted educators at Cardinal Gibbons School are more than just teachers. They spend countless extra hours both in the classroom and on extracurricular activities to make the high school experience fuller for my classmates and I. Being an all boys’ school with small class sizes, the Cardinal Gibbons School fosters an environment of loyalty and friendship that cannot be compared to other schools.
At the Cardinal Gibbons School the student is the priority. The challenging preparatory school curriculum succeeds in preparing all of the young men at Gibbons for college. At college, when other students struggled in their assignments, I found the assignments to be normal. When other students complained about the work load of college, I found myself wondering why everyone was having such a tough time. I realized after my first semester of college that it was the efforts and expectations that the faculty and administration had set for my classmates and I that prepared my class so well for the next step in our education.
The number of extracurricular activities at Gibbons and the openness of the school community to involve everyone made my high school experience a great one. The time spent out of the classroom with my friends and teammates on the Lacrosse field developed me into a better person. The extracurricular activities provided a place to learn about team work and the achievement of goals. I believe that the time I spent at Cardinal Gibbons has had a direct affect on any of my success and my future. I am proud to be a Crusader.
Cardinal Gibbons… I don’t even know where to start. This is the place that put me on the path to success. Before enrolling at Gibbons, I basically had no idea of what I was doing with my life and even through my time at Gibbons there were times of uncertainty. But I tell you what looking back on my life, that Cardinal Gibbons was the best choice for me. I wasn’t the best student by any means, but the staff pushed me to work, as well as my coaches. Gibbons isn’t called a college preparatory school for nothing, as it was the building blocks for me of maturity, my adulthood, and along the way I met lifelong friends. Thanks to Cardinal Gibbons it has made me the person I am today. Thanks to Gibbons I received an athletic scholarship to a 4-year university to continue my education, and even though I graduated a little more then 3 years ago, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about Gibbons and all my memories.
God Bless
I continue to support and assist Cardinal Gibbons because I know that the education and experience I gained has profoundly affected my success and happiness. When I graduated from Gibbons, I was blessed with a solid education, high moral standards, an understanding of the importance of hard work, an ability to succeed in a team setting, and religious beliefs that would carry me through tough times.Constellation Energy Projects & Services Group
Cardinal Gibbons changed the trajectory of my life. The first time I considered going to college was when my football coach, Bob Patzwall, made a deal with me as a senior – that if I would continue to play ball and if I kept my grades up he would get me into college. Mr. Patzwall did as he promised. Also in my senior year at Gibbons I received the Chaminade award for service to the community. I still have that award and its significance is more important to me now than when I was a Crusader because it reminds me that at the heart of my job as a Vice President at Morgan State University (and at the heart of any job) is the requirement of service to others. I am both grateful and humbled by the contributions that the faculty and staff at Cardinal Gibbons have made to the arc of my life.
