Middle States Accreditation
Cardinal Gibbons School recently received its continued full accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools ("Middle States"), through 2016. Middle States is a peer-administered organization of educational institutions that is committed to the highest quality education for students. Its purpose is to ensure the continuous improvement of its member schools through effective leadership, self-study, peer evaluation, accreditation, exemplary programs and supportive services. Cardinal Gibbons began the process for its continued accreditation in the Fall of 2007, and continued throughout the 2008-09 school year with a community-wide assessment of its self-identity, strengths and goals for improvement.
As part of its standard processes, Middle States sent a Validation Team of education experts from schools throughout the Middle Atlantic region to our school in April 2009. That team performed an independent assessment of the school and its programs, assessed twelve standards for accreditation, and recommended full continued accreditation through 2016.
Among the conclusions of the Middle States Validation Team are the following comments:
"The rich religious heritage of Cardinal Gibbons School provides the foundation and framework for the values based education, which flourishes there. Parents and students alike praised the 'total education; it is more than book learning.' 'Our sons learn responsibility and accountability.' The dedication of the school administration, faculty and staff make this reality possible."
"Dedicated and talented faculty members with a high level of commitment provide a caring, supportive environment. In the words of an observant student, 'the faculty is open to doing whatever it takes to make the school better.' Enthusiastic parents and supportive alumni complete the picture of the school community. Well maintained grounds, athletic fields, and physical plant attest to the caring of the staff."
Cardinal Gibbons School is proud of this performance, and thanks Middle States for its thorough review, and for the commendations and recommendations of the Validation Team.
