The Guidance Program has as its objective the development of the student morally, personally, socially, educationally and vocationally.
The concept of guidance at Cardinal Gibbons is one of a team approach which includes the Guidance staff, advisors, as well as teachers. However, various services which in a great measure are specialized and beyond the control of all the teachers. The services provided by the Guidance Department include counseling, testing, student appraisal, college and career guidance, follow-up, research and evaluation.
All students receive a minimum standardized testing program in both Middle School and High School. The basic testing program consists of ability, achievement, interest inventory and College Board tests. Parents receive printed copies of the test results.
Students records are available to faculty, students and parents with due consideration given to confidentiality and the student’s right to privacy. Other persons may view a student’s record if they have written permission from the student, if he is 18 and over or written permission is obtained from a parents or guardian if the student is under 18.
